Pricing

The installation cost for BigPond ADSL Home Wireless are higher than standard ADSL due to the more sophisticated embedded software and technology in the wireless kit, as well as the higher cost of the modem itself.

If you choose to self install but then require a technician service visit, you may be charged an additional $189. If you cancel your Self Install Kit prior to installation you must return the kit intact to the place of purchase. Failure to do so will incur a kit replacement cost of $350.00.

Things you should know

The range of your wireless equipment can be affected by the proximity of electromagnetic devices such as TVs, radios, cordless phones, etc; or if any of the following objects lie directly between your computer and the wireless modem:

• Large metal objects.
• Bodies of water, like fish tanks, above ground pools, etc.
• Several high-density floors or walls.

The speed of your BigPond Broadband ADSL connection is not changed by the fact that you are using a wireless modem. However the wireless connection between the modem and your computer may be slower than a wired connection. Speeds will also vary depending on the number of users sharing the connection at any one time. Speeds may vary from time to time depending on plan selected, Internet traffic, server capacity and other factors.

An Ethernet connection may be preferable if you rely on high network speeds to transfer large files between your computers.
